What is tesamorelin?

Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid GHRH sequence with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added to the start. That change protects it from breakdown by the enzyme DPP-4, so it lasts longer than natural GHRH.

It binds GHRH receptors in the pituitary and prompts the release of growth hormone in its normal pulses.

Tesamorelin clinical research

Tesamorelin is one of the few peptides in our range with an approved drug version. The FDA approved it in 2010 as Egrifta, for reducing excess belly fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. The phase III trials found it cut visceral fat by about 15% over 26 weeks.

Measuring and storage

It ships as a freeze-dried (lyophilized) powder in a sealed sterile glass vial. Before reconstitution, keep vials in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, or in the freezer for longer storage, away from light.

To reconstitute, let the vial reach room temperature, then add sterile diluent slowly down the side of the glass. Swirl gently and don’t shake it. As an example, adding 2 mL to a 2 mg vial gives 1 mg/mL, so every 0.1 mL holds 100 mcg. Write the date and volume on the vial.

Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within the window your protocol allows. Most labs avoid repeated freezing and thawing of reconstituted peptide, because it can break the chains down.
