What is PEG-MGF?
The IGF-1 gene can be spliced in different ways. One version, IGF-1Ec in humans, is made in muscle after mechanical stress or damage, and Geoffrey Goldspink’s group named it mechano growth factor in the 1990s.
The free peptide breaks down within minutes. Attaching polyethylene glycol (pegylation) protects it and keeps it active much longer.
PEG-MGF and mechano growth factor research
Animal and cell studies found MGF activated muscle satellite cells, the stem cells that repair muscle fibres. Other work looked at heart muscle after injury and at nerve cells. Some later studies questioned how much of the effect comes from the E-domain peptide itself.
There are no human trials of PEG-MGF, and it isn’t approved for any use. Search the research on PubMed.

Measuring and storage
It ships as a freeze-dried (lyophilized) powder in a sealed sterile glass vial. Before reconstitution, keep vials in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, or in the freezer for longer storage, away from light.
To reconstitute, let the vial reach room temperature, then add sterile diluent slowly down the side of the glass. Swirl gently and don’t shake it. As an example, adding 2 mL to a 2 mg vial gives 1 mg/mL, so every 0.1 mL holds 100 mcg. Write the date and volume on the vial.
Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within the window your protocol allows. Most labs avoid repeated freezing and thawing of reconstituted peptide, because it can break the chains down.
