What is liquid YK-11?
YK-11 was first described by Japanese researchers in 2011. It’s built on a steroid backbone (it’s derived from 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone) and acts as a partial agonist of the androgen receptor. So it isn’t a true non-steroidal SARM, even though it’s usually sold as one.
What makes it interesting is follistatin. In mouse C2C12 muscle cells, YK-11 raised follistatin expression, and follistatin blocks myostatin. That’s where the ‘myostatin inhibitor’ label comes from, but the effect is indirect and has only been seen in cells.
YK-11 research in cells and animals
The 2013 study by Kanno and colleagues found YK-11 drove myogenic differentiation in C2C12 myoblasts more strongly than DHT, and blocking follistatin cancelled the effect. In MC3T3-E1 bone cells, YK-11 increased markers of osteoblast differentiation through the androgen receptor.
Not all of the data is positive. A 2023 rat study linked YK-11 to oxidative stress and inflammation in the hippocampus, and there are case reports of liver injury in people who used it. There are no human trials. Search the work on PubMed.

Measuring and storage
At 10 mg/mL the math is simple: 1 mL holds 10 mg, 0.5 mL holds 5 mg and 0.25 mL holds 2.5 mg. The full 30 mL bottle holds 300 mg. Draw from the fixed glass dropper and read the volume at eye level.
Keep the cap tight and store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. PEG-400 doesn’t need refrigeration. If the solution looks cloudy after cold shipping, let it sit at room temperature and swirl it gently.

Is liquid YK-11 a SARM?
It’s usually sold as one, but structurally it’s a steroid. It acts as a partial androgen receptor agonist and raises follistatin in muscle cells.
Does YK-11 block myostatin directly?
No. In the 2013 cell work it raised follistatin, which then inhibits myostatin. There’s no evidence of direct myostatin binding.
Does YK-11 suppress testosterone?
No clinical studies have measured it, but its androgen receptor activity makes suppression likely.
