What is liquid ligandrol?

Ligandrol (LGD-4033, also called VK5211) is a non-steroidal oral SARM first developed by Ligand Pharmaceuticals. It binds the androgen receptor with very high affinity (a Ki of roughly 1 nM) and is selective for muscle and bone over prostate and skin.

Ligand built it for muscle wasting and osteoporosis. Viking Therapeutics later licensed it as VK5211 and tested it in patients recovering from hip fractures.

Ligandrol research in humans and primates

A phase I study gave 76 healthy men LGD-4033 for 21 days. Lean body mass went up in a dose-dependent way, and the compound was well tolerated, though testosterone and HDL dropped at the higher doses. In primates given the compound for 13 weeks, lean mass rose and most of it stayed after a 4-week washout.

Viking’s phase II trial in 108 hip fracture patients found gains in lean body mass over 12 weeks at 0.5 to 2 mg a day. LGD-4033 is still unapproved. The studies are listed on PubMed.
