TB-500 research guide: Thymosin beta-4, explained (Sports Technology Labs blog)

Synthetic thymosin beta-4, sold for research as TB-500, is a protein found in almost every cell in the body. It’s one of the most studied repair peptides and is often paired with BPC-157. This guide covers what it is, the key studies and where to buy it.

What is TB-500?

Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid protein whose main job is binding actin, the protein that forms the cell’s internal skeleton. That affects how cells move and divide, which is why it became a target for wound and tissue repair research in the 1990s and 2000s.

TB-500 research findings

A 2004 Nature paper by Bock-Marquette and colleagues found thymosin beta-4 helped heart cells survive and migrate after injury in mice. Other studies looked at skin wounds, corneal injury and hair growth in rodents, often reporting faster closure and new blood vessel growth.

RegeneRx ran human trials of thymosin beta-4 eye drops for dry eye and corneal damage. The research peptide isn’t FDA approved and is banned by WADA. The literature is on PubMed.

TB-500 vs BPC-157

Both are studied in repair models, but they’re thought to work differently. Thymosin beta-4 helps cells migrate by binding actin. BPC-157 research points to blood vessel growth and nitric oxide signalling. That difference is why researchers often study them together.

Where to buy TB-500

Sports Technology Labs sells TB-500 5 mg vials, freeze-dried and sealed in sterile glass. The current batch tested at 99.42% purity with MZ Biolabs.

It’s also part of the BPC-157 and TB-500 stack, which saves $9 on the two vials, and the GHK-Cu glow stack, which adds GHK-Cu and saves $21.

How TB-500 is shipped and stored

Vials ship as freeze-dried powder, which is stable in transit. Refrigerate them when they arrive and keep them away from light. After reconstitution, keep the vial cold and avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

How to read the COA for thymosin beta-4

Each product page lists the purity and the COA date from MZ Biolabs. Purity is the share of the target peptide found by HPLC, and the date tells you when that batch was tested. Most listings show the certificate in the image gallery, and we’ll email the full document on request. Thymosin beta-4 is a large peptide, so a clean single peak on the chromatogram matters even more than it does for short peptides.

Planning a repair study with thymosin beta-4

Because published work spans heart, skin, eye and hair models, start by picking the model closest to yours and reading those papers first. Plan controls for each peptide on its own if you’re using a stack. No trial has tested thymosin beta-4 and BPC-157 together, so a combined protocol is new ground.

TB-500 FAQ

Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?

TB-500 is the common name for synthetic thymosin beta-4 sold for research.

How much peptide is in each vial?

5 mg of freeze-dried peptide.

Can I buy it with BPC-157?

Yes. The BPC-157 and TB-500 stack bundles both.
