Ostarine (MK-2866) guide: Enobosarm, explained (Sports Technology Labs blog)

Ostarine (MK-2866), also called enobosarm, is the SARM with the most human trial data. That’s a big part of why it’s often the first compound researchers look at. This guide covers what Ostarine (MK-2866) is, what the trials found and where to buy it.

What is Ostarine (MK-2866)?

Ostarine is a non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator developed by GTx Inc. It binds the androgen receptor in muscle and bone and has much less effect on the prostate and skin than testosterone does. Its half-life is about 24 hours.

Ostarine clinical research

In a 2011 phase II trial of 120 healthy older men and postmenopausal women, 3 mg a day of enobosarm for 12 weeks increased lean body mass and improved stair-climb power compared with placebo. GTx later ran trials in cancer patients with muscle loss, which also showed gains in lean mass, and studied it for stress urinary incontinence in women.

The full trial record is on PubMed.

Ostarine side effects reported in trials

Trials reported a dose-related drop in total testosterone and SHBG, plus lower HDL cholesterol. Enobosarm hasn’t been approved by the FDA for any use.

Liquid Ostarine or Ostarine powder?

The compound is the same. Liquid is already dissolved at a known strength, so it’s quicker to measure. Powder suits labs that weigh and prepare their own solutions in a carrier like PEG-400.

Where to buy Ostarine (MK-2866)

Sports Technology Labs sells liquid Ostarine at 25 mg/mL in a 30 mL glass dropper bottle and Ostarine powder in a 2 gram pouch. The current batch tested at 98.04% purity with MZ Biolabs.

Ostarine is also in several stacks. The Ostarine and Cardarine stack is our most popular, and the MK-677 and Ostarine stack pairs it with a growth hormone secretagogue.

Storing liquid and powder enobosarm

Liquids from Sports Technology Labs are dissolved in USP-grade PEG-400 and bottled in UV-resistant glass with a glass dropper fixed into the cap. Keep the bottle upright, tightly capped and out of direct sunlight. Room temperature is fine, and there’s no need to refrigerate. If a bottle gets cold in transit and looks cloudy, let it warm to room temperature and swirl it gently.

Powder ships in a resealable foil pouch. Measuring tools aren’t included, so you’ll need an analytical balance that reads to at least 1 mg. Most labs dissolve it in PEG-400, the same carrier we use for our liquids. Reseal the pouch straight after use and store it somewhere cool, dry and dark.

How to read the COA

Each product page lists the purity and the COA date. Purity is the share of the target compound found by HPLC. The date tells you when that batch was tested. Most listings also show the certificate and the chromatogram in the image gallery, and we’ll email the full document if you ask. A single tall peak at the expected retention time is what you want to see. Small extra peaks are impurities, and the purity figure accounts for them.

Ostarine (MK-2866) FAQ

Is Ostarine the same as MK-2866 and enobosarm?

Yes. They’re three names for the same compound.

Does Ostarine suppress testosterone?

Trials reported some suppression, milder than with steroids.

Which Ostarine product should I start with?

Most labs start with the liquid because it’s easier to measure accurately.
